There are so many beauty products choose from today that it is hard to find the right one at times. L’Oreal Paris Excellence Cremelights Highlighting Kit is a product with great reviews. Women have tried this exciting new innovation in home haircolor technology that is actually effective in producing desired effects. L’Oréal Paris highlighting kit, also has a Touch-On Highlights kit available, comes with a bristled thimble that you use to apply the dye through strips of hair. Use this simple process:

1. Shake the highlighting powder into a mixing bowl

2. Pour the peroxide developer into the bowl.

3. Stir together peroxide developer and highlighting powder and watch mixture turn blue (the better to see where you’re applying it).

4. Dip thimbled index finger into mixture.

5. Slowly draw bristles through dry, tangle-free hair.

Be careful not to leave the highlighter on for too long because some of the lighter colors may produce a brassy look. Do try the the strand test to prevent the unwanted results.

Over the years, women have traded beauty secrets with each other based upon tried experiences. A league of beauty editors have combined their research and experience to make beauty more affordable to consumers. In order to get a start on the perfect skin is to focus on drinking eight glasses of water a day. The fact that you are thirsty means that you have deprived your body of the nutrient- you are dehydrated.  As a result, the skin is parched, and even may be dry and flaky from dehydration. In combination, try these beauty secrets.

1. Sunscreen should be used at SPF 15 every day, rain or shine. The UV radiation is the main source of skin cancer which increases the aging process of our skin. Steven Wang, a Director of Dermatologic surgery and Dermatology at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center states that skin damage may occur without visible signs.

2. A skin treatment deried from Vitamin A like Retin-A or ReInova tend to rejuvenate the skin with new collagen, exfoliate your pores, and encourage cell turnover, according to Dr. Mary Lupo of Tulane Medical School. A retinoid should be used before bedtime each night as a part of your routine. It is also best to treat the neck and hands because the skin is thin and delicate in these areas.

3. Do your homework at your local drugstore. Large cosmetics companies use as much research and development into the inexpensive store brand as they do with the luxury products. So, take advantage of the inexpensive cleansers, moisturizers, and treatments that work just as well as (or better than) luxury brands. The companies that produce drugstore products want you to be loyal to them, so their research and development funding was well invested.

Many of us celebrated our mothers this past Sunday by showing her with gifts and dinner.  Mom was a significant key to teaching us life skills and pinchon for picking out great beauty products. My mother played a significant part in my spiritual walk with God, learning to cook, recite a poem in class, and my love with Jergens Original Body Lotion.  I think the scent reminds me of her and that is the main reason I like it so much.

Totalbeauty.com took a in-office survey of women who got hooked on beauty products.  Here is what they said:

Neutrogena Rainbath Shower & Bath Gel, $23.99

“This was a staple in our showers growing up — likely because it could be purchased at Costco (called Price Club back then) in a 40 oz. bottle. But this remains one of the best shower gels I’ve ever used (though I must admit I am more of a bar soap fan). It leaves skin feeling super clean, but never totally dried out. And it has a classic, fresh scent that isn’t too fruity or floral — definitely guy friendly.”

  — Kristen Oldham Giordani, Senior Editor

Lancome Definicils, $24.50

“My mom introduced me to Lancome Definicils, still my all-time favorite mascara and no. 1 beauty obsession.”

– Sarah Carrillo, Senior Associate Editor

Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion, $24

“When I was 12, my mom took me to the Clinique counter and got me started on the 3-step system. I used it till I was in college … and actually still sometimes use Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion on my face.”

– Susan Yara, Associate Editor

Shiseido Ultimate Sun Protection Lotion SPF 55, $39

“According to my mom, all my bad traits were from my dad’s side of the family: acne, bad eyes, bunions, etc. My mom’s biggest complaint though was my skin. She said I had the skin of a 40-year-old at the age of 16, thanks mom! So she introduced me to Shiseido Ultimate Sun Protection Lotion. I still use it every day and when I ran out of it while traveling in Italy I spent a ton of Euros to replenish my stash.”

– Sharon Yi, Intern

Now it is your turn to send us your comments. What product did your mom or mom-like role model get you hooked on? Do you have a beauty secret to share?

A lot of famous actresses have been seen wearing precious adornment in their hair. Headbands seem to be making a comeback. Whether it is floral, bejewelled, or asymmetrical in design, the accessory has made its way back into the forefront of fashion trends. That is not all. There is a growing trend to bring forth a sense of style them too.  Like this beaded headband, ornate leaf or the links. I think the headband adds personal style and flare, especially to hair with soft waves or a blunt haircut.

What would you say to your favorite spa using crushed gemstones for a facial?  Trendy spas are using these treatments as a part of the youthful agents for clients in cities like New York.  Gems like emeralds, rubies, pearls, and even gold are being used to plump, lift, brighten, purify the skin. New York Fashion found three new gemstone facials you’ll find around New York City:

• At Townhouse Spa, the jewel of choice is amethyst, which the aestheticians claim reduces skin inflammation and radiates infrared rays in order to stimulate healthy cell growth. The $275 Amethyst Purifying Gem Facial begins with a thorough cleansing, followed by penetration of an amethyst serum with an LED light, and finished with an eye cream aided by a sonic frequency device. The final step is a mask containing 63 percent amethyst powder. The skin is supposed to be instantly firmer and brighter.

• The Pierre Michel will introduce the $275 Cornelia Lumina Facial on May 1. Emeralds are used to correct skin tone imperfections; rubies and gold are supposed to hydrate and smooth; citrine is supposed to plump lips; and sapphire is supposed to lift. The gems are mixed with anti-aging pentapeptide and the treatment is supposed to leave a shimmer on your skin.

•  Dorit Baxter Day Spa, a $120 value of the Natural Pearl Exfoliating Facial, uses pure pearls smashed into a paste to exfoliate. “Pearls are also known to contain amino acids, vitamin B complex, and calcium,” says Baxter, “and they prevent dark spots on the skin by slowing down the growth of melanin.”
