As more women are faced with entering the world of business, it lightens the heart to see the easy and simple lines of the Donna Karan’s collection. Karan’s spring designs have a fluidity and functionality to them and they are versatile. I have chosen my favorite from her line of clothing to show the true meaning of “power dressing”.
Karan has continued her journey “to design modern clothes for modern people” that she visioned with her business in 1984. Her clothes were made for comfort and natural fit as she also promises to design clothing that she would wear herself. She prefers to use fabrics like silks, light knits, and cotton. Karan seems to like layers, wraps at the waistline and basic details to finish the look as ultimately comfortable and chic at the same time.
I like this look straight from the runway because of the ribbon that cinches the waist. The soft and delicate fabrics that are almost seamless pieced together. See the shades of muted colors as we await the blooms of spring. She has created femininity with pin-tucks, at the shoulders and waist. Her designs remind me of sophistication and elegance as I view her cashmere collection at Neiman Marcus or Nordstrom.
