Is bottled water rotting your teeth?

Is bottled water rotting your teeth? It is certainly a question we should be asking bottled water companies and distributors. According to an article I found on WebMD, bottled water manufacturers are not held to the same standards as water plants. What does that mean? It means that while tap water is regulated by state government to make sure that it is in no way harmful, the same cannot be said of the bottled water industry.
A study published in the March 2000 issue of Archives of Family Medicine found that
*The Fluoride content of bottled water falls below the amount mandated by the state for tap water
* In some cases, bottled water was found to contain 10 times the level of bacteria found in tap water.
I know, you’re thinking, “It’s just Flouride, it’s not that big of a deal.” But actually, it is a very big deal. That lack of Flouride, mixed with the rise in Americans’ sugar intake, is contributing to tooth decay. That’s right, your bottled water could inevitably leave you wearing dentures.

Fresh breath curbs overeating
According to Health.com, brushing your teeth after every meal is more than just a great way to fight cavities. Following your meal with brushing, popping a breath mint, or even a breath strip signals your body that you’re done eating.

Earlier this week I was watching TV and saw a commercial for the best invention ever! Colgate has taken it upon themselves to invent something that’s long past due, the Colgate Wisp. What’s so great about this toothbrush? It’s a teeny tiny disposable brush that fits in your purse, so you can take it everywhere.
The Wisp boasts of being no bigger than a car key. And even more impressive, is that you don’t need water to use it. One end is designated as a toothpick to remove any food particles; the other end is a brush with a bead in the middle that releases a burst of minty freshness while you brush. No need to worry about spitting, the minty liquid is perfectly safe to swallow. The Colgate Wisp is sold in packs of four. What’s not to love?!
Finally, I can go out to dinner, order the most garlicky thing on the menu and not have to worry about offending my date for the rest of the night. Thank you, Colgate. You just helped me move one step closer to marriage.
