Burruss, Holloway and Wren Cover. Fur Fashion Shoot With 3 Prominent Midwest Ministers. Furs courtesy of The Fur Centre, 601 S. Lindbergh Blvd., St. Louis, MO 63131 • (314) 997-3877 • Monday – Saturday: 9am – 5pm.
Rachel: Thank you Pastor Burruss for doing The Fur Centre shoot with us. Pastor Burruss: You are welcome. Thank you. Rachel: Would you tell us about your congregation? Pastor Burruss: I am the Pastor of Transformation Christian Church and World Outreach Center in St. Louis, MO. The church was started by my husband (Dr. Richard Burrus), and I. He passed away five years ago, and I became Senior Pastor. Rachel: I am sorry to hear of your husband’s passing. That must have been a difficult time for you. Pastor Burruss: It was. Rachel: What is your congregation size? Pastor Burruss: 900. Rachel: That’s a nice size congregation. What is the church attire? Pastor Burruss: I would say modest attire. Rachel: So, you do not have a lot of members who dress up? Pastor Burruss: No, the church isn’t a “dress up” type of attire. I do, however, believe that if you are going to worship you should come in your best. Rachel: Do you feel that you are a fashionable Pastor? Pastor Burruss: (laughing) I preach in a robe to make sure I am not a distraction, or that what I am wearing doesn’t distract those who need to hear the word. Rachel: Wow! I remember when robes were the norm on Sunday mornings, or special service occasions. Pastor Burruss: Yes, I try to preach in one every Sunday. Rachel: What is unique about Transformation Christian Church? Pastor Burruss: Our ministry is based upon the word of God. When you come to Transformation we look to provide a “word” that will transform everything; changing all areas of your life.
Dior Fires John Galliano

“The Show Must Go On!”
And so it did sans Dior’s famously eccentric and former head designer, John Galliano. Dior’s fall 2011 fashion show, scheduled for March 4th, was one of the hottest tickets in town as fans and critics flocked to see how the fashion house would fare fresh off the heels of the PR nightmare created by Galliano.
In February, a couple accused the designer of making racial slurs toward them at a Paris café called La Perle. A second complaint was later filed with Paris police alleging an anti-Semitic verbal attack. Video phone footage of the once prominent designer has also surfaced. It captures a seemingly drunk John Galliano saying, “I love Hitler…People like you would be dead. Your mothers, your forefathers, would all be f—— gassed.”
Oscar-winning actress Natalie Portman, the face of Miss Dior Cherie fragrance, about the incident: “I am deeply shocked and disgusted by the video of John Galliano’s comments that surfaced today,” said Portman. “In light of this video, and as an individual who is proud to be Jewish, I will not be associated with Mr. Galliano in any way. I hope at the very least, these terrible comments remind us to reflect and act upon combating these still-existing prejudices that are the opposite of all that is beautiful.”
The firestorm caused by Galliano could very well cause the fall of one of fashion’s finest houses. Dior is already reporting layoffs as the backlash of Galliano’s comments continues. The fifty-year-old British designer John Galliano has acted as head designerof Christian Dior since October of 1996, but his reign has since ended. Galliano was fired after a brief suspension. President and CEO, Sidney Toledano, told Women’s Wear Daily, “We unequivocally condemn the statements made by John Galliano, which are in total contradiction to the longstanding core values of Christian Dior.”
Only time will tell what will become of Dior.

Coverings’ Ferosh Faux Fur Picks

Temps are steady dropping, and you know what that means…bring on the faux fur! With a waning economy, going faux is a trend that designers have run with, offering faux fur pieces that could easily pass for the real thing. Create a cozy cold weather wardrobe with our favorite ferosh faux fur pieces!
The second we saw this faux fur outerwear, we fell in love. With an affordable faux chinchilla coat from Betsy Johnson to a faux mink from our favorite “fast fashion” retailer, Forever 21, outerwear has never been so chic! The fur trimmed cape at ASOS makes us think of classic British style and would look fabulous paired with two-tone riding boots and oversized sunglasses. For a more contemporary look, we like the belted fur vest. It works well layered over a simple silhouette and instantly becomes part of the outfit. And for the woman who likes to push the fashion envelope, BCBG offers an edgy, faux leather coat trimmed with fur.
But, what if you already have the perfect coat and there isn’t a bit of fur in sight? Don’t fret. You can still get in on this trend with faux fur accessories. Arm warmers from ASOS are perfect for wearing with a poncho or a 3/4 sleeve swing coat. Or, why not switch bags for the season and go with a a faux fur purse like the one from Juicy Couture? If nothing else, you can always get your fur fix with a pair of great boots or a scarf. Trapper hats are also in vogue, and you can’t go wrong with our pick featuring fur lining and a tweed exterior. It’s hanging my closet as we speak. If trapper hats aren’t your style, add a hood to your coat!
The Coverings Crew believes that life is better when you look good; because when you look good you feel good. And, what’s better than creating an outfit that makes you look like a million bucks?

Many of us are bracing for the cold this time of the year. It is also that special time where people get revved up for the holidays. Bypass all of the hoopla in “Holiday Madness” and shop for your favorites online. I am still finding some great deals at select stores that promote their offerings through websites. Most stores allow you to pick up the purchases at the store which renders the free shipping costs. You cannot beat this deal because this cuts down on time you spend looking for the product, then standing in line to buy it. I love these fashion selections because they can be worn together or in a combination with other pieces in your closet to spruce up your holiday look! I particularly like the top and bag paired up with jeans and my black calf-length boots. Calvin Klein For Fall
Calvin Klein pulled off a collection that is reminiscent of the golden era – images of art and design. The designer expressed collarless coats, rounded shoulders, big sleeves, and the pants are tailored. All of this drama pays close attention to the silhouette of the the female body. The design is simple yet compelling in details like the embroidery or sleek sheen of the fabric in a dress. Take a good look at some of the Fall 2010 Calvin Klein Collection.

7 Steps To Slimming Looks For The Holidays

Thank goodness beauty comes in different shapes and sizes. Not everyone is as thin figure as a runway model. However, it never hurts to play up the assets that we were given to enhance our beauty. Let’s take some tips from Adam Glassman, O Magazine’s Creative Director.
Rule no 1. If you are body-conscious, the best way to wear clothes is to make sure you are wearing the right size. Don’t wear clothes that are too tight or too big, for instance, the fabric always makes you looks bigger.
Rule no 2. Go ahead and test vertical patterns! Avoid horizontal lines but concentrate on wearing the Seams, stripes, piping, or a deep V-neck all stretch you out. Be wary of anything horizontal.
Rule no 3. For a pear- shaped woman, try to balance your figure with details to the upper body that attract the eye. For instance, accentuated sleeves or necklines and a simpler skirt or pant to down play ample hips.
Rule no 4. Another way to minimize the hips is to wear a miniskirt. Minis can be tough, so beware of the hemline bisecting the leg where it is biggest. A mid-length skirt can solve this problem area to slenderize the leg.
Rule no 5. Always try to emphasize the waist! The fact is that it is a woman’s strongest feature. Colors and patterns can be used to bring the eye away from the shoulders or bottom half.
Rule no 6. Never wear flimsy fabrics if you want to look slender. The best fabrics for a body-slender look are gabardine or cotton, —especially in tailored form— really give the body more structure whereas a thinner material will show every bulge.
Rule no 7. Shapewear is a good investment. Suck-you-in lingerie will literally take off pounds and you will be able to breathe with it on.

What’s In Your Closet For Fall?

Paris Fashion Lookbook 2010
This is a sneak peak at what is went on at the Paris Fashion Week. I have created a Lookbook of some of the fashions that caught my eye. I felt like a child on Christmas Day when I saw all styles to choose. The most popular era appeared to be the 1940′s, which was pretty strong inspiration for many designers. There was variations of the belted trench coats, leggings, and A-line dresses in a plethera of colors and prints.
Red lips, trench coats, and wavy hair influenced by Lauren Bacall caught my eye. I used to sit up all night watching her on the “golden oldies” we called them. Never underestimate the power of black and white together. The piece that stands out the emost for me is Ricardo Tisci’s stunning Givenchy collection of bold colors.
