From tailor cut casual wear to draped dresses and gowns, every piece does its part to pay homage to the feminine physique. Inspired by the grooviness of the 70s, Elie Saab Spring/Summer 2011 collection is all about wide leg satin jumpsuits, menswear cuts, and lots of sequins for a fabulously posh finish. The looks are finished off with chunky, statement jewelry, sky-high platforms, and high shine locks.

His take on evening wear is a mix of hiked up hemlines and flowing gowns to show off killer gams. Asymmetrical ruching shows off curves or graciously gives the illusion of curves where there actually are none. Paired with futuristic hardware and sleek hair, it’s a look that any woman can pull off. And isn’t that what great fashion is all about?

It’s almost too much to take, and we mean that in a good way. The 70s was awesome the first time around, but Elie Saab’s interpretation on the era makes us want to strike a pose under a disco ball. For more Elie Saab visit ElieSaab.com.

escada spring summer2011 ad campaign Spring Clean Your Wardrobe: Escada 2011Your Women’s Conference is almost here, or it’s Sunday morning and you don’t have a thing to wear. Right? May I recommend Escada?

This designer label works for our lifestyle. Escada is well known for it’s classy international image. It does color exquisitely and is devoted to detail. Escada has a great sense of what many women of faith desire – femininity and elegance that doesn’t shy away from bright contrasts and striking silhouettes. Escada is the master of bold color and pattern combinations. These combinations can come off completely amatuerish if you do not know the rules of design elements. COVERINGS trusts Escada to show us how it is done.

This spring, the look is “Cool Glamour.” The trendy neutral tones are the perfect base for a shock of color.
This can be done with a brilliant tank, fabulous piece of jewelry or bag. Personally, we like the very clean crisp all over neutral look. There is an innocent freshness about it. This collection is understated chic. It has a more casual edge for women who are dramatic with a more youthful spirit. If you love easy, uncomplicated style then this collection is for you.

Many of the items can be mixed and matched. We like that, because you would definitely choose the white or neutral shirt to go over the one shoulder look for a Sunday service. The duster or jacket would work well, also. Escada shoes, bags and accessories can be interchanged as well. This season, add some of these pieces to spring clean you wardrobe.

Where to buy: www.esdada.com, Saks Fifth Avenue, or find the location nearest you.

harvey1 Harvey Faircloth Designs for Real WomenAbby Clawson Low, Mara Papa, and Katie Hatch are the three designers of Harvey Faircloth for the past ten years. Hatch was an editor in chief of Martha Stewart Weddings, Papa was an executive assistant, and Clawson Low was a graphic designer and former art director for Kate Spade. In 2008, these women decided to launch their label despite the recession. The Harvey Faircloth name was conjured from a chance encounter with a gentlemen Hatch met at a wedding.

Equipped with only their creative minds in tout, the women sought to change the fashion industry with ingenuity. “People thought we were out of our minds,” says Papa, “but it made sense for us at that time in our lives to just go for it.” “Our references aren’t as obvious as those you might already see in the fashion world,” says Clawson Low. “And we don’t take ourselves too seriously, which I hope can be refreshing in this industry.”

Katie designs the initial sketches for each season full of eye catching prints, silohouttes, and brilliant construction. Hatch calls the Faircloth look “classic sportswear with a twist”.

What is their unique vision? “She’s the ideal Harvey Faircloth girl: well-read, smart, witty, fun, and creative,” Hatch says. She is not the typical thin, long- legged model to launch their spring look. Harvey Faircloth label is sold at Castor + Pollux, A. Cheng, and the Harvey Faircloth e- commerce site, and they’re featured designers on Fadmashion.com.

Spring is finally here and to celebrate the season I found more fashions on the runway. Elie Saab  is well-known for his haute couture in the Middle East, where he showcases bejeweled gowns like princesses to his Beirut atelier. Saab began with in 1982, when he was only 18 years old, and officially launched his designs in Milan in 1998. This Lebanese designer is well-known for his aesthetic designs in feminine couture dresses, brilliantly colored silks, chiffons, pearl beading, and embroidered lace. Saab’s Middle Eastern detailing and European elegance has also appeared in Hollywood. Elie Saab designs can be found at Neiman Marcus.

Ralph Lauren this Spring

We have all heard of the Great Depression but the past few years may be marked in history as the Great Recession. Ralph Lauren has expressed his spring collection with reminiscent of the 1920s. Lauren’s artistic expression brings a whimsical and feminine style to his designs. I like the soft muted shades of blue and silver that still exude strength and character.

Breathtaking with whimsy.

We have encroached upon hard times again, but there is an air of anticipation that is cause for celebration. Here are Lauren’s thoughts about American resiliency. “I am inspired by the character of the worker, the farmer, the cowboy, the pioneer women of the prairies,” he wrote in his program notes. He decided to put the polo shirts on hold for a season to bring us some history. The models wore newsboy hats, faded and torn oversize jeans with blue workshirts, overalls, dresses with ankle socks and oxford heels.

Just like classic movies, Lauren brought forth a picture of romance, resilience, whimsy all at once. The fashion runway also touted the looks of white cotton organdy dresses and pinstriped three-pieces suits with cropped and gathered pants or trousers, work jackets and carpenter pants in blue ombré silk charmeuse, the nightshirts came striped with beads, and the overalls were transformed into a floor-grazing lamé dress. A pair of evening jeans, completely covered in silvery beads save for the fraying holes, took the concept to the limit. More of these fantastic designs can be viewed at

Tahari One of My Favorite Dresses

Tahari by ASL dress with yellow and white printed brocade is gorgeous. I love the soft print throughout the dress, shoulder straps, the slightly open neckline with jewel embellishment and piping detail. Also, it comes with a banded empire waist with piping on top and bottom. Another fine design made just in time for spring.

There are other nice pieces that I can build into my spring wardrobe available at Macy’s. Easter is also just around the corner.  I can remember my mother always dressed her four daughters in beautiful frilly dresses every Easter Sunday. We all picked our favorite colors like green, yellow, pink and blue. The night before the big day we all waited out turn to get our hair washed, set and put in rollers. We danced, we sang, and we played excitedly until bedtime.

I still get excited about Easter Sunday. It is more than just the dress now. It is a day to be grateful. To give God some of my time and show Him that I truly appreciate the price He paid for me. I thank God for being faithful to me and saving me from a world of darkness and hopelessness.

DKNY by Donna Karan

Donna Karan has been a fashion icon since the 1980″s.  DKNY had humble beginnings in 1989, full of the hottest and trendy fashions to hit the contemporary runway scene.  Today, her designs are still the epitome of youth, innovation, and clever fashion sense.  DKNY continues to be the rave of the fashion world for its simplicity in pieces, yet intricate patterns and fabrics.

For instance, Karan’s collection played neutrals off a host of florals, including charming little peonies and splashy floral and -graffiti prints.  Also, the boyfriend jackets with cuffed shorts or slouched pegged pants. There is a silk jacket with sweatpants in her collection along with biker shorts that each model wore under a dress.  Everyone may not agree with all of her fashion designs but there is something for each person to make a welcome addition to their wardrobe.

DKNY has a lot of youthfulness in its design but it is also elegant.  I appreciate the tasteful prints, they look fun but they are also classy.  This is what I like about Donna Karan.  Her vision seems to span the scope of a many age groups because there is something for everyone to choose in her clothes lines.
