National Evangelist Missionary Shirley James Wooten is the wife of Bishop Lawrence M. Wooten who made history as the first St. Louisan to be elected to the 12-member Church of God in Christ, Inc. (COGIC) General Board. COGIC is the largest Pentecostal Holiness Christian Denomination in the United States with over six million members.
Evangelist Shirley Wooten earned a Bachelor's Degree in Education from Virginia University, and taught High School English for many years. She is Advisor to The Youth Church and Youth Coordinators, former Coordinator of Juvenile Detention Ministry, and an author of literature on Faith, fasting and topics of Spiritual Growth.
Senior Pastor at Salem in Ladue UMC
Rev. Terri Swan has been Senior Pastor at Salem United Methodist Church since July 2011. Terri was born and raised in southern Illinois, where she met and married her husband of 32 years, Joe. Terri earned her undergraduate degree in counseling in 1999 from Texas A&M University-Commerce, and she graduated cum laude from Southern Methodist University Perkins School of Theology.
Before becoming Salem’s senior pastor, Rev. Swan served the United Methodist Church as a children’s ministry director, an associate pastor, and the founding pastor of The Bridge, a contemporary worship experience at Stonebridge United Methodist Church in McKinney, Texas. Terri and Joe have two daughters, two grandchildren, and enjoy watching the Cardinals play ball.
